The House, A Luxury Holiday Home in Scotland
An Cos is a holiday home that offers luxury accommodation at the edge of the picture-postcard-pretty village of Shieldaig in the Torridon highlands.
Gaelic for “the hollow”, An Cos sits in an elevated position behind an ancient dry stone wall. The house has breath-taking views overlooking Loch Shieldaig and out to sea, towards the Isle of Harris. There are picturesque views of the conservation village of Shieldaig.
Using local Torridon stone, the house was recently built as a family home and has been finished to a very high standard. It has Caithness stone floors and oak flooring, and furnished with a blend of antique and contemporary furniture. Original artworks, mostly by local and Scottish artists, adorn the walls.
The house offers flexible, exceptionally comfortable and luxurious accommodation for up to 10 people. For optimal comfort, though, we recommend a maximum of 8 adults.
The house is available for 7 night bookings throughout the year and shorter stays during the winter. We have a great local housekeeping team who ensure the house is always in tip top condition for our guests who will also provide a light mid-week clean and towel change.
Outside the house
An Cos is positioned opposite Shieldaig Island with its rocky outcrops, scrub and Caledonian pine trees. The island is a nesting home to some of Scotland’s re-introduced Sea Eagles so there is always something to look at without leaving the house! Nearby, stunning scenery abounds on the fabulous Aird Path walk that starts directly behind the house on a circular route. The walk goes around Shieldaig peninsula with views over towards Loch Torridon and its majestic mountain range.
Many of our guests have become regular visitors and you can read some of their comments on our Reviews page. But don’t take their word for it – come and stay! You will always be made very welcome.
