Exploring the Area
Stunning views from every angle; majestic mountains including six Munros around Torridon; red deer; sea eagles; otters; seals; the occasional dolphin; spectacular light. Nature at its very best.
An Cos is a five minute walk from the village shop, lively pub, restaurant and Nanny’s the local cafe. Shieldaig also has its own smokehouse for delicious freshly smoked salmon. Sea and mountain activities, as well as tennis, are all available in the village with fishing, deer stalking and archery nearby.
The Aird Path (directly behind the house) to the peninsula tip and Loch Torridon, has stunning views of the village, Torridon Mountains and the Outer Hebrides - so you don’t need to walk far to experience peace and breath-taking beauty.
The hamlets of Torridon and Kishorn are approximately 15 minutes drive, both with cafes and art galleries. Applecross, 50 minutes drive, has fantastic food, stunning views of Skye and is a wonderful area to explore. Lochcarron, the largest village in the area, is 30 minutes drive and has several cafes, a well-stocked shop, cash machine and garage.
A little further afield, the picturesque harbour of Plockton, Gairloch with its stunning beaches, the iconic Eilean Donan Castle, tropical Inverewe Gardens and Isle of Skye, are all worth visiting.
