An Cos is an extremely well appointed house with the most stunning views – ever changing – whatever the weather. The house is extremely well equipped, there was nothing we needed that wasn’t there, a good sized boot room a bonus and plenty of space for the 5 of us to spread out and 10 people would just as easily be accommodated. We loved being able to wander into Shieldaig and visit the pub, cafe and the shop was very handy and we always had a friendly welcome. There is plenty to do for all ages, tennis, loch swimming, fishing, kayaking, some fantastic walks and amazing scenery where ever you go to name just a few. We can highly recommend this property and hope to return some day.

Beautiful house, spotlessly clean, with all the amenities needed, in a great location with views to match.

Who wouldn’t want to return to this beautiful laid out, well presented home in the most idyllic of settings. We were lucky to have returned for our second visit to Chrissy’s home, using it as a base to finish off some fantastic Munro bagging – it was a pleasure to return to the house where comfort and pleasure was aplenty. If you are looking for a house that has a luxurious look and feel with breathtaking views, along with doorstep outdoor activities this is the place to be. A big thank you goes out to Fiona for being as helpful as she was ,and to Chrissy for allowing us to hire her beautiful home once again.

Please don’t go to An Cos. You won’t enjoy the ever-changing views of the sea and the mountains. You’ll find the kitchen too well equipped and the sitting room too comfortable. You won’t appreciate the practical boot room, or the well-equipped utility room. You will find the beds too large and the bathrooms too smart and efficient. You really won’t like the steam room – much too hot and relaxing. Above all, don’t try and book it for the week that we want next year!

Lovely relaxing stay at this gorgeous family owned house – the location is magical with the most breath-taking sunsets. An Cos is just a few minutes’ walk outside the lovely village of Shieldaig and located right at the water’s edge with the most wonderful views across the Loch. The layout of the house is great: it’s very well presented, well equipped and is clearly a much loved family home.  Fiona the housekeeper is a star too – available, helpful but unobtrusive. We ventured to The Isle of Skye and to Gairloch (off-shore whale watching) but to be honest you don’t need to go anywhere at all – the village has a great pub, smokehouse, cafe plus there are wonderful walks right from your door.  We’d love to come back – thank you Chrissy and Fiona.

We have just had the most wonderful family holiday at An Cos. The house is spacious, well-equipped and attractive inside, and has plenty of outdoor space, so it was possible for all 8 of us to find a bit of space for ourselves on occasion as well as fitting very comfortably into the common areas. At night there was no other sound but the owls. The cooking facilities and equipment were of a very high standard, so this definitely is a house for foodies – and there is artisanal bread to be had locally as well as two different salmon smokeries. The views from the main rooms alone are worth the trip; the village is a pleasant stroll away if you want company (and excellent home baking at the cafe), while in the other direction there is a walk through wood and heather to a tidal island. And if you are energetic, lost of wonderful places to visit, walk or climb. A perfect week – and Chrissy and Fiona even managed to arrange sunny, hot weather for us!

We stayed at An Cos for six nights in April 2019. It is a beautiful house, incredibly well appointed and beautifully comfortable, it is easily the best appointed house in the area. Uniquely An Cos manages to be both luxurious and completely relaxed at the same time which is what makes it so special. Just as importantly, Shieldaig is a wonderful place. Somewhat in the wilds but with a shop, pub and various restaurants within easy reach. With options to climb fish eat and walk it has more than enough there to keep you occupied. Visit Kishorn, Torridon and Diabaig for their beauty and good food, but you will never tire of the views from the house regardless. We have been to the area six times now and cannot recommend it highly enough.

We have been coming to An Cos since 2013 and it never disappoints. We absolutely love the house. Chrissy’s attention to detail is terrific: it feels like we are staying in a five star hotel but with all the comforts of home. The welcome from Fiona is always warm, genuine and friendly and nothing is ever too much bother. We use the house as a base for exploring Torridon. There are always Munros walked, sometimes tennis played, lots of walks to the Aird and great meals in the Shieldaig Coastal Bar or the Applecross Walled Garden. This time we discovered the Bealach Cafe and Gallery at Kishorn, which we’d thoroughly recommend. We leave An Cos with a feeling that our batteries have been charged and we always looking forward to our next trip. It has become an annual fixture in our calendar.

Wow! What a place! We have been to Sheildaig many times and always enjoyed staying in this fantastic little village, with its picturesque main street and wonderful cafe/pub. Little did we know that our holiday in Shieldaig could be even better with a stay in An Cos. It is a perfect holiday house, with everything you could ever need, and more. The house is extremely well stocked with kitchen utensils, outdoor furniture, crabbing kits… so much good stuff! The view is stunning and the location above the village is outstanding. We loved it.
